Project: The Book “The Living Goddess” – Polish Edition

Marija’s latest book – the first one published in Polish!

There are books that organize knowledge. There are also those that change the way we see the world.

As part of the Women for Peace initiative – a community of women inspired by the research of archaeologist Marija Gimbutas – we aim to publish her book The Living Goddesses on the Polish market.

Gimbutas offers a new perspective: she reveals  a vision of Europe before the dominance of the systems we know today. Her discoveries uncovered traces of the ancient cultures of Old Europe: a world grounded in coexistence, deep respect for life, cyclical understanding, and community, as well as a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.

Her work opens space for a fundamental question: is the way we think today about society, relationships, and the human condition the only possible one?
We are currently in discussions with publishers and translators. We are deeply excited and grateful to be able to take part in the creation of this project, which holds profound cultural, social, and symbolic significance for us.

Why “The Living Goddess”?
The book explores the values that formed the foundations of Old European culture—values that may serve as inspiration, and perhaps even as a basis, for addressing the dilemmas of our turbulent contemporary world.

Who will benefit most from reading the book, and why?

1. Building peaceful cooperation:

  • leaders, political and social activists operating at international, national, and local levels
  • specialists and practitioners involved in building civil society
  • business leaders seeking new approaches to strengthen cooperation and engagement, improve efficiency, and embed economic activity within a broader social context focused on well-being, greater inclusivity, and shared goals and values

2. The relationship between humans and nature:

  • specialists and practitioners working in environmental protection and deep ecology
  • specialists and practitioners engaged in protecting human physical and mental health

3. Knowledge of the cultural roots shaping the identity of the contemporary European:

  • experts, students, and enthusiasts

Who we are?

Women for Peace is an initiative of women inspired by the research of archaeologist Marija Gimbutas, whose work revealed traces of ancient cultures in Old

Europe—societies built on coexistence, respect for life, and balance between humans and nature.

Our community grows out of the long-standing work of Anija Miłuńska, who for over two decades has been leading Women’s Circles and initiating communal practices that revive the memory of a culture rooted in peace and collaboration. We seek to bring these values into the contemporary world, creating spaces for connection, dialogue, and conscious engagement  with life. We meet in circles, during ceremonies, and at events inspired by ancient European symbols, such as the spiral and the labrys.

One of our key initiatives is promoting the legacy of Marija Gimbutas. We are working on translating and publishing her books in Polish, so that this groundbreaking perspective on European cultural heritage can reach a wider audience.

We cultivate a community of women committed to fostering a culture of peace, education, and conscious living within a shared environment. We are open to collaborating with institutions, publishers, and partners who wish to support projects that deepen knowledge of cultural heritage and contribute to building a culture of peace.
